Babywearing North Shore is a non profit group run by volunteers to help inform and inspire parents about safe and comfortable babywearing. We hold a monthly workshop and also a coffee catch up, at rooms at the Cedar Centre, in Beach Haven. Our workshops demonstrate the use of a variety of safe and comfortable baby carriers that support good posture in both the wearer and wearee. We have a collection of different carriers to try on and hire, so that you can see which carrier will best suit your needs before you go off to buy something yourself. We also are happy to help you get the most out of your carrier, and share tips and tricks for safe and comfortable use.
Our coffee catch ups are a more social time, as we find parents interested in babywearing often have other parenting philosophies in common. We don’t have to talk babywearing the whole time, but are happy to answer any questions too. Although the hire collection is not brought to the coffee catch ups, our instructors often bring their personal carrier collection and are happy to help you improve your technique with your own carrier. It is also a great time to return your hired carrier, or just to sit and chill and let your children play.
Our venue is the Chelsea Rooms at the Cedar Centre (around the back). The rooms are fully fenced and child proof, with a quiet, off road carpark, and we have a collection of toys and play equipment to amuse your child or children while you are talking babywearing. The address of the Cedar Centre is 56A Tramway Rd, Beach Haven, and it is approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the nearest bus stop.
Our monthly meeting is held on the second Friday of each month (except for in January), between 10am and 12 noon. Our coffee catch up is held on the fourth Friday of each month (except for December and January), again between 10am and 12 noon. If possible, we request a $3 donation from non-members at each get together, to help us cover our venue hire.
